How Kleeneze Compares to Amway

To retail Amway products you need to demonstrate them to the customer and effectively sell each item, if you manage to visit 5 or 6 customers in one evening you're doing really well! Our Kleeneze catalogue does the selling part for us so we just collect the orders. We can collect a great deal more catalogues in one evening than 5 or 6! We can also retail products to customers without them actually being in when we collect the catalogue. How many customers can see a demo when they're out?

It is much harder to retail a large amount in Amway, hence their retail target is 3% where ours is 10% and above. A high retailer in Amway would hit 9% (900 points) but ours hit much higher! In 5 years an Amway distributor would never retail enough to live on the retail alone but with Kleeneze it is pretty common to live on retail within a few months.

To explain the Amway business to someone you would lure them around your house without actually telling them what they were turning up for. Some of your friends would feel deceived. Most people decide to sign into the Kleeneze business without even seeing an information pack or watching a Video/DVD. All that is normally necessary is to hear about a typical retail run in Kleeneze - in just one retail run in Kleeneze a distributor can retail MORE than an Amway distributor retails in an entire year!

The highest earners in Amway put on their own conference at the NIA and it costs around £70 or more for the weekend. Kleeneze itself host conferences at the NIA and it normally costs no more than £15-20.

Unless you are senior enough in Amway, you can only order your products through the person that introduced you to the opportunity (your sponsor). You would have the task of collecting them in your car in your allocated time slot on a Friday evening. Sometimes people delayed you and you could loose an entire evening trying to get this sorted! With Kleeneze however, all distributors order directly from the company and delivered separately via a courier.

A great deal of focus in the Amway business is placed on the Tape of the Week an Book of the Month programme. If you do not buy into this programme your upline will consider you a waste of time and will not show you much support. The same can be said for the Training meetings and Opportunity meetings each held once per month in a hotel conference room. The entrance fee was about £5 per person about 10 years ago.

You will find that an Amway distributor is very reluctant to tell you what they're earning. They claim that it is their business and its rude to ask! Bizarre really when we (Kleeneze) freely advertise our income cheques to prove we are earning money and so can show others how to do the same!!

With Betterware, there are no bonuses. Your supervisor has the option to pay you more than the basic commission (which is 20%) but they only do so for the best agents (i.e. highest ordering).

In Betterware, your territory is selected for you so you may get lumbered with a territory further from home than you want. You are also limited by what it can produce in orders. 

You will be encouraged to always drop to every house rather than build a customer base as we do in Kleeneze. 

your targets will be set for you and you will be expected to achieve them, if you consistently fail you may get your territory taken from you. Kleeneze distributors set their own targets.

“Yes indeed I did Betterware after leaving school, for one week!

It was fine, I got £375 of orders for 15 hours' work and earned £75 or £5 per hour. However I decided I didn't have 15 hours spare and of course you are given territories and ought to look after those territories properly so I felt I couldn't continue and do the territory justice, so I finished.

The supervisor was not happy as she told me I was the highest ordering agent she ever had!

If there had been potential to earn more than time-for-money maybe I would have stayed. It stood me in very good stead to immediately accept Kleeneze.”

“We started doing Betterware because obviously we needed extra money, but you didn't have to pay for the books, had a secure area to work in with no competition of other Betterware distributors.  But and this is a BIG BUT it meant you could only earn so much, you had to deliver to all houses and were not allowed to 'cherry' pick your customers.

Never be put off by other Kleeneze distributors as there is always room for one more.  When I started we had about 4 distributors in my own street.

With Kleeneze you can work anywhere and do as much or as little as you like.  You deliver only to customers which means you don't lose books.  The Kleeneze pay system is much better as Betterware only pay 18%.

Betterware has a bonus scheme but is very poor and well spread out and after a year there is no cash bonus just items (kettle, tea towel etc) which you probably don't want anyway.

Also with Betterware the Area Supervisor delivers your goods to you on a set day once a week.  You cannot order more than once a week.

So, when we sat down and really looked at it there was no competition who the winner was.  We are now Gold Distributors and building a team.”

“My partner Michael and I used to do Betterware when we lived in Crawley . The main differences are that you are restricted to where you can go as you are given a territory and cannot cross it. The advantages for growth are unlimited with Kleeneze but are almost non existent with Betterware. We could only order through the main distributor once a week. We did not have the support and backup that we get with Kleeneze.

Personally we would not entertain going back to Betterware as it would be a major step backwards. The round is always that, a round, it is never a growing business of team friends who are very willing to help each other, which is what we have with Kleeneze.

It is always hard to persuade a person to change because they think all similar businesses are run the same, fortunately for those of that do make the change, we see that there are a lot more advantages with Kleeneze than just working a territory to put money in the pocket of the main distributors.”

“My husband and I did Betterware for 18 months prior to joining Kleeneze in January this year.  All we could earn was at the most £50 — £60 per week (that was a good week)!  With Kleeneze we are earning the same (retail) but that is our choice.  At least we have the opportunity to go out and go to new areas if we want, with Betterware you are stuck to the same old route and you have a co-ordinator to answer to!

With Kleeneze you can team build, which we are starting to do and already have 5 people in our team.  As you can imagine our cheque is no longer at £200 per month and we don't have to do any more retail to achieve a bigger cheque.

The commission is also better with Kleeneze (i think it is 18% with Betterware, and the bonus' are really hard to reach) With Kleeneze as you know the bonus' are really easy and anyone can achieve them with a bit of effort.

A lot of people are under the impression that Kleeneze and Betterware are the same (we certainly were!  We thought the only difference was the fact that you had to buy your books with Kleeneze and with Betterware they are free.  How wrong!)  With Betterware people see it as short term, perhaps saving up for a holiday or moving house like we did.  With Kleeneze people join because they can see the bigger picture and realise that they don't have to retail forever to enjoy financial freedom.

There are many other good reasons why you should join Kleeneze but I would be typing all day.  Hope this helps”

Whilst dropping my Kleeneze catalogues to a customer base today, I saw a Betterware book on a doorstep which contained a note giving the following message.

"Dear Customer,

Following a recent change to the geographical boundaries of my area I have, reluctantly, had to accept that Mr B be transferred to another Coordinator. Whilst I am sad to lose Mr B I wish him well for the future. He has asked that I convey to you his thanks for your custom in the past.

I have appointed Miss S who has delivered this catalogue to you, to provide your Betterware service in the future. I am confident that they will provide you with the service I wish you to enjoy.

I was so amazed by the note, I felt it essential to share it's contents with you all, especially those who are team building.

During the course of a recent days retailing, I have met (and pitched, but without success) Mr B. He has been a Betterware agent for 13 years, and covers a very wide area. He told me he earned £2,000 per month, but he was new to the particular round he was doing.

Imagine, from his point of view, having spent all of that time building up your retail base so that it generates over £6,000 of retail sales per month - and then the company taking it away from you and giving it to someone else.

Imagine then having to start a new area from scratch.

Imagine being his Area Coordinator, having a reliable and hardworking team member taken away and "transferred" to another Coordinator.

Betterware have to order their deliveries through the district co-ordinator who then delivers the goods to them. They do not have complete control over when the customer receives the goods and in my mind service is not as efficient (this has also been the response from customers who order off both - I would imagine we have more repeat business?).

Betterware do not pay for their catalogues - I think this is the reason I see so many of them lying on peoples doorsteps for weeks on end - can this really help their name, their reliabilty and repeat business?

I believe that Betterware get 20% retail profit but no incentives unless they want to go to district level and there is little recognition.

Only one catalogue and far fewer products!”

“Hi Folks!

I have just sponsored someone from Herbalife and she told me about several differences between her Herbalife group and Kleeneze.

  1. In Herbalife you have to rent one of the company's websites for... wait for it... £23 a month! In Kleeneze you can get a website for the equivalent of about £8 a month for the first year, then just £4 per month for subsequent years (from bigadvertising.net).
  2. In Herbalife their equivalent of a millionaires meeting is £42 to attend compared with £7 or £8 for Fast Forward group millionaires meetings. Mind you, she did say you get a few manky sarnies at the Herbalife meetings! Worth the extra £34? I think not!
  3. In Herbalife the information pack costs the prospect £30. In Kleeneze the info pack is free to the prospect and less than £1 to the person sending it.
  4. In Herbalife you can buy your way further up the pay plan by buying a load of stock in the hope that you are going to be able to sell it. You end up spending more on stock than you earn and as a consequence they put more importance on your badge level than your income.
  5. In Herbalife, if you haven't bought your way in far enough up the pay plan then you can't order direct from the company. You have to order your products from your sponsor or, if your sponsor isn't very high up the pay plan, then you order them from your sponsor's sponsor... or if your sponsor's sponsor isn't very far up the pay plan... you get the idea. You have to go to your sponsor's house to collect the products... and your sponsor could live miles away.
  6. In Herbalife you are considered to have done really well if you have 20 customers! She nearly fainted when I said we have 800 customers! She said it is so hard to sell the products that you are encouraged to advertise for retail customers. If you don't have 20 customers then you are virtually ignored by your upline as someone who isn't serious! She couldn't believe how easy our system of catalogues through letterboxes is in comparison with what she has to do.
  7. Her opinion is that because Herbalife isn't making as much profit as they would like from the sale of their products to customers, they need to make a profit from their distributors by hiking the cost of meetings, websites and info packs.
  8. The biggest difference is that Kleeneze distributors make money straight away. Send your Herbalife prospect a copy of your first cheque (this is why a good retail story is so important!) and they will join. If they're not ready to join now, send them a copy of your cheque every period and they will join before long! By the way, to keep your costs down, you can e-mail a copy of your cheque to people instead of printing and posting it. Ask your upline if you don't know how to do this.

Finally, in Herbalife you wake up one day, open your garage door and think "Oh S**t, look at all that stock that I'm never going to sell! I'm quitting and going to join Kleeneze like that nice Shelagh advised me to!"

How Kleeneze compares to Herbalife

My name is Faith Perrott and I have join you all in the business. I was just reading this and found it very interesting as a year ago I gave up being a Herbalife distributor. it reminded me why I gave it up. even with the prospects of a fantastic future "yeah right if your in America" thumbs up those who have had success but I tried and tried and got nowhere except -£7000 in dept, it was meant to get me out of debt - well that is what they said- I paid about £50 on websites per month, £18 on touchfon communications, between 6-7% handling charges on all orders and if that is not all, the products are twice the price than in America. As for conferences we paid £70 a go and then we did not even get sandwiches just the products. yeah the information pack cost me £27. as for customers well I had a total of 6 one purchases from people in one year with Herbalife, compared to 53 orders in one months with Kleeneze. And I quote from the post above -"Finally, in Herbalife you wake up one day, open your garage door  and think "Oh S**t, look at all that stock that I'm never going to  sell!"" this correct as I still have the stock and have no idea what to do with it, I cant sell it, but I can't throw it as it would be an even bigger waste of money, compared to the complete waste of space it is now. It was one of the reasons I nearly did not take this chance but so far I am glad I did as last month , my first month I earned £212.15 including my 10% I have already made my money back and here's to the future.

“I was with FLP when I looked at and joined Kleeneze.

Firstly I must say FLP products are fantastic, but from personal experience they are way out-priced here in England. It is priced for the American market and over here as you know you can get aloe vera juice etc. from Holland and Barratt for a margin of the price. We know how people over here watch there pennies.

We actually lost a lot of money with FLP we were always at a loss and I still have a lot of products that I don’t know what to do with.

With FLP you could spend an hour or maybe two talking to somebody about the products but with Kleeneze you could have a 100+ catalogues out in that time all with potential buyers. And after all Kleeneze has been in England for over 80 years so the name is already trusted.

Also it has been a lot easier to sponsor people into Kleeneze.

“I was chatting to an FLP distributor earlier this week and I have an ex-FLP agent in my team. This person did FLP for nearly a year, had a small downline and I don't think she ever earned more than £50 in a month. 6 months in Kleeneze and her biggest cheque was £1741.99

The simple fact is that FLP agents have to SELL - we just collect orders. Also there are only 15,000 of us to date, while there are 7.5 million FLP distributors in 105 countries (figures taken from their official website) so I think it's safe to say we have the greatest opportunity for growth!

“One of our team has done both Betterware and Avon.

On Avon she says that there are several pitfalls. namely that the area team manager will sometimes pick the better customers from the roads assigned to you and therefore limiting your income still further. As you only have a few streets there is no potential to build a reasonable income. The company also makes regular errors on the delivery of your orders which may result in you missing bonus levels. This happened on one order at Christmas as the company sent the wrong item and therefore the order was short of the total required. Obviously there is a lot more actual selling involved not like us who simply leave the customer to tell us what they need on their order.

I actually tried Avon myself before I joined Kleeneze, Avon doesn’t even compare. Avon doesn’t give you a career like Kleeneze can. you still have to pay for your books. it’s better than Betterware but nothing can top Kleeneze for a bigger picture. Avon doesn’t give away cars or holidays or your own business opportunity to me that says it all.

“I believe also they still have to buy the next issues of the catalogues which incidentally can in some cases only be used once due to the scratch and sniff pages and they have to replace them every 3 weeks... Don't quote me on this but that is hearsay... Get the facts from the AVON rep.

And finally ... My current income £400 to £500+ part - time with a spine injury, not even that gets in the way too much.

You do have to pay Avon for the brochures about £10 for say 70 books. Each brochure changes every 3 weeks and orders need to be in by a particular date. Deliveries are about 6 to 8 days later depending on whether you order by post or online. You do not have any choice in the delivery date.

The price of items change from brochure to brochure and they are always "improving" their products, you need to be able to deal with disappointed customers who are allergic to most products when their favourite product is discontinued.

Avon treats their representatives like employees rather that self-employed individuals.”

“Lets talk facts.

  1. Our Avon lady takes at least 14 days to deliver our products and she earns about . Wait for it... less that £40 per month! You can earn that and more in less than 3 days with us by just sticking out the catalogues in any area you like... hmmmm. Any area? Yep, any area.
  2. Also my Avon lady isn't really allowed to do my road because she has been given her area to work so I am her only customer where I live. How stupid is that?
  3. Like Betterware they are almost employed by their managers where we are our own boss with fantastic upline help and support. i,e this system. Have a look at some cheques. This information. The EWB. The Buzz website etc etc etc etc etc, get the point?
  4. And finally... I am a complete stranger offering you some ideas. Get your local Avon representative to show you their cheques, help and support systems, upline, accross line, downline, and the company and the future growth in the Netherlands and Germany. Help and support is just an email/phone call away. “

“If it's free what is it worth?

My wife did Avon years ago, and we know people who still do it. Fine if you want a little work and very little money. I have a Kleeneze customer who still does it, and they were moaning about few orders and very poor stock fulfilment fairly recently. Nothing has changed since Pat did it; their Christmas was always a nightmare due to a vast quantity of unfulfilled orders. Staff turnover is massive, their area managers spend most of their time recruiting because as fast as they join they leave.

I saw somewhere Kleeneze order fulfilment was in the 90%'s and we know Avon was under 60%.

It depends what you want, something that you get for nothing or a serious opportunity that is still a first class investment. Our advice to start by using your credit card, you will have enough commission to pay off the investment by the time it is due for payment - so handling the cash flow aspect of the start up.

We were sent a mail-shot by someone who was prospecting us for Avon and claimed to be earning £1300 a week after 2 years. Yes in Avon they pay for the books out of the commission they earn, at least initially. But you only get a limited number of streets and the earnings may be quite small. The products are excellent. There are hidden disadvantages of doing Avon. Their campaigns are usually three weeks long, which means that you make income every three weeks. Where as in Kleeneze, you can put out the catalogues, say 200, 6 times to their one time, so income potential is going to be lower with Avon. The goods take longer to come than with Kleeneze and can be as long as 6 weeks and you have to pick it up yourself. That means you do not get your money quickly. The upshot is that if you want to make a lot of money, do not do Avon.”
